Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775w

7.5 Overall Score

5 Year Warranty, Modular Cabling, 80 Plus Bronze Efficiency Rating, Good Voltage Regulation and Ripple Characteristics, Reasonable Price

Sleeving Does not extend into the PSU casing, Some Teapo Brand Taiwanese Capacitors

The Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775w PSU has to be one of the most promising new models on the market. Not only does it have an excellent set of features, but it also has great performance. The ripple and voltage regulation characteristics were well beyond what is required by ATX specification, and outstrips many other models in it’s wattage range. The suggested retail price of the unit comes in at a modest $145- chump change for a modular 775w unit with performance this good. The PSU also firmly earned its 80 Plus Bronze certification for efficiency. 5 year warranty is also definitely a plus.

Overall, a solid offering from Thermaltake. This is definitely a contender in the 700-800w PSU market. Because of it’s excellent performance on the test bench, and the relatively mundane price, we have no choice but to recommend this PSU to those in the market for one. For those of you looking for a less powerful or more powerful unit, the Toughpower XT line should soon be available in 575w, 675w, and 875w varieties.
