Supermicro, a leader in energy efficient computing, has been around since 1993 and is based in San Jose, CA. The company produces high quality products and prides itself on key technologies such as customizable server solutions, flexible expansion capabilities and economical power efficiency and thermal management systems.

Many of our readers may be wondering why a SOHO server would be used over a traditional desktop. The bottom line is quality and reliability of the servers. You will find these systems in small to large businesses where uptime needs to be near 100%. The failure of a system could be the life or death of certain companies, so servers are counted on to be of the highest caliber and depended on to be up and running all the time. Businesses also rely on power management to help cut costs and keep the environment clean. We will cover areas where Supermicro excels in quality, reliability and power management towards the end of the review.
