Is Cooler Master’s CM Storm Spawn an affordable gaming mouse?

8.3 Overall Score
Build Quality: 8/10
Gaming: 8/10
Price: 9/10

Decent price, claw grip style design, good performance

Optical laser postioning, lack of fully adjustable DPI settings, lift off distance is sub-par

In concluding are review of the Spawn gaming mouse from Cooler Master’s Storm lineup, we have found that it is a capable peripheral for the beginner to intermediate gamer. The claw style grip design of this mouse tailors to gamers who use that type of grasp. This design limits the type of gamer it is intended to be used by. We would have liked to see the placement of the laser in this type of specifically designed mouse more in the center to allow for more accurate control.

The lightweight Spawn has many features that make it a great choice. However, the limits it puts on acceleration, 20G compared to 50G with the other mice tested, and inches per second of tracking movement, 60IPS compared to 235+ IPS on the others, keep it from being a contender for the very best mice and elite gamers. The $49.99 price point is certainly acceptable, however, you can find CM’s older Sentinel available for near that price online. In order for this mouse to be more appealing, a $29.99 price point seems more reasonable. As for the question possed in the title of this review, we believe that it would be an affoardable gaming mouse at our suggested price point.

We’d like to thank Cooler Master for providing use with our review sample.
