Is Cooler Master’s CM Storm Spawn an affordable gaming mouse?

8.3 Overall Score
Build Quality: 8/10
Gaming: 8/10
Price: 9/10

Decent price, claw grip style design, good performance

Optical laser postioning, lack of fully adjustable DPI settings, lift off distance is sub-par

Our test setup for mice reviews is very straight forward and simple. We use an i7-920 based system with UT3, Borderlands and Crysis 2 for game testing. Prior to our results from the test suite, we want to talk about the software interface and some hardware specs that hold interest for gamers.

The Spawn’s GUI is pretty basic and staightforward. The first page allows for the reassignment of mouse buttons, double click speed, scroll speed, pointer acceleration and angle snapping. The second page allows the user to record macros. The third page allows you to adjust DPI settings, polling rate and Pointer Speed. The last page offers links to update the software and support for the Spawn. Although we like the easy of use of the interace here, we would prefer the option to adjust the DPI settings to more than just the three offered.
