eVGA GeForce 8800 Ultra

Overall Score

Here we see the eVGA 8800Ultra comfortably in its new home. The two PCI express power connectors are hooked up and delivering the juice. Despite the large size of this board it fits easily in most full tower cases as seen here.

60 Amps of 12V power should satisfy even the hungriest GF8800 series.

In the name of all that is good in the world, use screws to hold in large cards like the GeForce 8800 series. No toolless clamps please! We want to minimize the stress put on the motherboard’s PCIe x16 connector by the weight of this card.

As previously mentioned, the GF8800 series supports DirectX 10. The use of DX10 means… the use of Windows Vista is also required! There is much debate about the quality of nVidia’s Vista drivers, so we’ll take a look at those as well.

To put this card through its paces, a series of tests will be performed using both Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 as well as 32-bit Vista Home Premium. In addition, a DX10 only benchmark will be performed using Vista.
