AMD Interlagos -An Easy Upgrade?

Considering we have all seen the benchmarks for Bulldozer on the desktop side of things, these results really are not that surprising. In a nutshell, one 16 core Interlagos chip needs a couple hundred MHz advantage to match the performance of two Magny Cours CPUs. And keep in mind that in our tests we had no way to measure if turbo was kicking in or not. From a hosting company’s perspective, we believe that Interlagos is going to be a big win. Moving from 2 sockets to one should push overall power usage down as well as cut licensing costs by 50%. The downside to this, of course, is that we will have to plunk out some serious cash up front to upgrade all the servers in our cloud, and to get the same performance that we get now we need at least the 6274 model, and possibly the 6276. Unofficially, we have been told that AMD’s Interlagos lineup will consist of the following:
