Supermicro Microcloud AS-3012MA-H12TRF 12-nodes

9.5 Overall Score

Front face IO ports | tons of RJ45 Ports

Supermicro has finally let us review their newest 12-node Microcloud AMD unit. We are simply stunned that they trust us to write reviews for them. Xtreme CPU has recently reviewed their 8-node Microcloud Socket 2011 here. Here at Xtreme CPU, we love hardware. Supermicro has been one of the only companies that has really allowed us to play, change parts, and tweak. Dell, HP, and others simply don’t give you the ability to do that type of stuff. Most of them are even proprietary to their own equipment.

In this review we will be reviewing their Microcloud AS-3012MA-H12TRF system.

The following setup is setup with the following:

  • 6 x AMD Opteron 3350’s, 6 x AMD Opteron 3380’s
  • 48 x 8GB sticks of memory (Hynix HMT41GE7MFR8C-PB)
  • 24 x 500GB Seagate, or Western Digital drives 2.5″ and 3.5″
  • Supermicro MicroCloud AS-3012MA-H12TRF Chassis

We are going to proceed to do a complete unboxing of this monster. I do have to mention that if you buy this thing, you may want to invite a friend over. This thing has to be at least 120 lbs. or greater.
