Cooler Master needs no introduction since we have been working with them from the early days of Xtreme CPU. This review covers one of Cooler Master’s newest CPU coolers, the Hyper 212 Plus. With P55 motherboards on the horizon, the tech industry is starting to churn out socket 1156 compatible coolers as well as kits for existing users to use with coolers they would like to transition to the new platform.

The Hyper 212 Plus comes with the necessary hardware for s1156 mounting. Unfortunately, we do not have a P55 motherboard and compatible processor to test this new cooler, so we will be using our Core i7 and X58 setup to carry out all tests. Since the s1366 processors tend to get nice and toasty, we think the results in our tests will be applicable to the P55 setups we will be working with in the near future. The s1156 CPU’s will most likely not put out as much heat as current i7 chips, so when we finally test the Hyper 212 Plus on the new P55 boards, we should see improved results from those seen in this review.

We will take a look at the cooler first, then see what this mid-range and reasonably priced unit can do.
