You read that right. Upgrading from Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 will cost you a measley $39.99. In addition to the low price, you get the option of adding Windows Media Center for free through the “add features” options in Windows Pro 8 after you upgrade. It appears that to get this discounted price you need to purchase it at Microsoft.com. If you wish to have a hard copy, i.e., DVD, you will need to visit a retail store or order online. The DVD option will cost you more, $69.99. This is a promotion which will end on January 31st, 2013.
There is no word yet on when you will be able to purchase Windows 8 Pro. But what if you do not have a copy of XP, Vista or 7? System builder packages of Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro will be available for purchase. There was no mention on price for either of the previous products.
