It has been almost two days since the Surface was put up for pre-order and the $499 model has been pushed back from getting it on October 26th to waiting up to 3 weeks for shipment. Could this be a sign that Microsoft has a hit device? Without knowing how many units they had available on pre-order launch day, it is tough to say. What this does show us is that consumers are interested and willing to dish out nearly $500 for a tablet based on the upcoming Windows RT. We can also see that people are craving cheaper prices and not as quick to spend more. The $599 and $699 models are still showing an October 26th delivery date.
Newegg also has Windows 8 and Windows RT based tablets up for pre-order with all devices still available.
