im building a rig for a friend and im going with intel, but i dont have any clue to what compadible. the budget is 8-9 hundred, and parts that are good oc'ers is prefered. also whats a low range nvidia card that is roughly that same as the 8800gt/9800gt when in sli? in need a whole list, besides ram and hdd.
i was thinking a c2d e4600. what do you think?

ATI setup would be better but the sli one would only win in crysis by a few fps untill u turn up the res then for some reson the hd4850 does better and gets around 30 some fps veryhigh dx10. plus it over clockswell i got minr at 700/2300 and at 100% load it barly taps 60c
it also does alot better on temps with artic silver 5 or equvilant

Read the OP, lol, he said he doesn't need Ram or HDD.

If he need a monitor or an OS or both, he can drop one of the gfx cards.

Actually most people get it pre-installed with their DELL. The rest are hopefully smart enough to get it from university.

Personally either setup is a win-win... I'm a big fan of my 4850 so far and plan to get another.

well every thing is needed, but i can choose the ram and its gona be a 320bg sata hdd. and to save cost, would two 9600gt in sli be roughly the same as one 9800gtx?. which would be the better buy. i know that he'll want to run cod4 at max. i can do that with my 8800gt, but looking for more of a future proof. so 2 9600gt in sli, or one 9800gtx?

That is the first motherboard I have seen in awhile that did not have one. I would see about ordering one just to be safe. Make sure you pick up some arctic silver while you are at it. Much better than the crap they put on a stock heatsink and you may need it for a heatsink for the south bridge also.
